About Notebooks for Peace
The concert is named after our social change project, Notebooks For Peace, and all proceeds raised through the event will be dedicated towards sending inspirational notebooks to youth in conflict zones. The first shipment will be to youth in Gaza and the West Bank this spring through AMIDEAST (an American international education NGO working in the Middle East and North Africa). Inspired by the Arab Spring, the notebooks allow youth in unstable environments to express themselves and collaborate; they are tools to help youth organize and mobilize. Notebooks for Peace are an outlet for artistic expression and a tool in the struggle for social change and justice. They empower youth and encourage literacy, self-expression and freedom.
