Invitation: 4th Annual Young Women Rock! Leadership Luncheon
The 4th Annual Young Women Rock! Leadership Luncheon will be held on Sunday, May 15th from 1 to 5pm at New York University.
Join us in celebrating the magic and excellence of our Brooklyn and Bronx mentees and mentors, and our team! We are delighted to have Tonya Rapley as a keynote speaker, Camonghne Felix leading a poetry workshop, and LiKWUiD on the 1s and 2s! The Luncheon is a closing ceremony for the teenage girls who completed our Young Women Rock! Mentorship Program in the Bronx and Brooklyn this past academic year. The objective of the Luncheon is to engage, educate and excite young women about their dreams and futures, and to celebrate the mentees’ completion of the program.
Young Women Rock! is a year-long personal development and leadership program for young women in low-income communities that empowers them through mentorship, builds their self-confidence and challenges them to discover and fulfill their potential. The program encourages them to think critically about themselves, their identity and their goals, while breaking down negative messages fed to them by society and the media. There will be an opportunity at the event for adolescent girls and their parents to sign them up for the Fall 2016/Spring 2017 cycle of the program.
