MENTOR APPLICATION GUIDELINES
The Young Women Rock! Mentorship Program is open to female, college-educated candidates between the ages of 21 and 35 living in New York City. The program is designed for individuals who are willing to devote a considerable amount of energy and reflection to the process of community building and empowerment through mentorship in Brownsville, Brooklyn and the South Bronx.
If accepted into the program, mentors will be required to undergo a background check, as well as participate in the Young Women Rock! Training & Orientation.
In order to apply for the program, candidates must submit the following materials:
•A completed application form (below)
•Email a one-page resume to jessica[at]womenworldwideinitiative.org with the subject, “YWR! Mentor Application FY2016 – [Your Full Name].”
The selection committee will review applications while focusing on the following:
•An appreciation and understanding of the value of the Young Women Rock! Program;
•A demonstrated interest in mentorship and youth/community engagement;
•The ability and commitment to complete the program
Your application should reflect your interest in the program and community engagement; how you would connect your life and academic experience to your participation in this program; what you hope to gain from this experience, particularly with regard to your future endeavors and career plans; and what you can contribute to the Young Women Rock! Team.
THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR THE 2016-2017 EXPERIENCE IS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31ST at 11:59pm EST. Exceptional applicants will be invited for a phone interview and subsequent training day on Saturday, September 10, 2016 and orientation on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Approximately twenty candidates will be selected to participate in the program at each site.
