Become a Mentor

It takes one person to make a difference in the life of a child. Be that person.

Mentors assume a number of different roles during the course of a mentoring relationship, but successful mentors also share the same basic qualities:

• A sincere desire to be involved with a young person
• Respect for young people
• Active listener
• Empathy
• See solutions and opportunities
• Be flexible and open
• Be committed and available

The Young Women Rock! Mentorship Program is open to female, college-educated candidates between the ages of 21 and 35 living in New York City. The program is designed for individuals who are willing to devote a considerable amount of energy and reflection to the process of community building and empowerment through mentorship.

If accepted into the program, mentors will be required to undergo a background check, as well as participate in the Young Women Rock! Training & Orientation.
